There Is No One Like God

Start Here

If you had to name every star in the sky, where would you even start?

Reading — Isaiah 40:25–26

Read it aloud once, slowly, then pause before you say anything.

"To whom will you liken Me, or who is My equal?" asks the Holy One. Lift up your eyes on high: Who created all these? He leads forth the starry host by number; He calls each one by name. Because of His great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing.

Discussion

Littles

How many stars do you think God made? Show me on your fingers.

They can't show that many — that's the point. Then: "God knows every single one by name, and not one is missing. What does that tell you about how big God is?"

Middles

God knows every star by name. Can you think of anyone else who could do that?

Let them think. Then: "God asks, 'who is My equal?' — so what's the answer, and how do you know?"

Teens

In one sentence — what does "who is My equal?" tell you about God?

After they answer: "If that's true, does it change how you see anything going on in your life today?"

Walk It Out

Find someone in your family and try to count the hairs on their head — actually try. You won't get far. God already knows the exact number. There is no one like Him. (Matt. 10:30)

Prayer

Lord, you've named all the stars in the sky and know everything about me and my life. Help me understand you better and find comfort in those facts today.
