God Satisfies Us With Good

Start Here

If you wrote down every kind thing anyone has ever done for you, how long would that list get?

Reading — Psalm 103:1–5

Read it aloud once, slowly, then pause before you say anything.

"Bless the LORD, O my soul; all that is within me, bless His holy name. Bless the LORD, O my soul, and do not forget all His kind deeds— He who forgives all your iniquities and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the Pit and crowns you with loving devotion and compassion, who satisfies you with good things, so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's."

Discussion

Littles

The reading says God 'heals all your diseases.' Point to a spot on you that was hurt or sick once and got all better.

Then: "who made your body able to mend like that? Every time you heal up, that's God's kindness at work."

Middles

Verse 2 says, 'do not forget all His kind deeds.' Name a couple from the reading — then tell me which one would be hardest to remember on a rough day, and why.

Let them list a few (forgives, heals, lifts you from the pit, makes you new). Their pick is the point — no wrong answer.

Teens

David spends these verses talking to his own soul, telling it what to remember. In one sentence, why would a person need to preach to themselves like that?

After they answer: "pick the one thing God does here that you most need to preach to yourself this week."

Walk It Out

Go around right now: each person names one kind thing a brother, sister, or parent did for them this week that they didn't have to do — then thanks them for it out loud.

Prayer

Lord, we bless Your name for what You've already done — forgiving us, healing us, lifting our lives out of the pit, and making us new when we're worn down. Help us not forget a single one of Your mercies today.
